Give a Family a gift

for as little as $20.

As you read through the list of opportunities, please consider that for only a small donation, you will be able to give a family in Uganda a gift of hope. A photo of the recipient family receiving your gift will be mailed to you in 2012.

$400 will provide a family with a permanent toilet and bathing room, something that we take for granted in Canada but that most families in Uganda do not have. It provides privacy and improved sanitation.

Pictured here is the first facility that HHU built for a family.

Each toilet/latrine/bathing unit that is built will feature a plaque of appreciation with your family name. You will receive a photo of the unit and the recipient family.

$60 will provide a family with a mattress, two warm blankets, and two pairs of bed sheets, items that many families cannot afford.  They often sleep on mats on the dirt floor.

$40 will provide a family with the basic utensils and items including saucepans, a kettle, cups  and plates

$30 will provide a family with two pangas and a hoe, essential garden tools for every Ugandan family. It will also give them a large barrel for collecting rainwater which is a huge blessing because many families do not have close access to running water.

$20 is enough to provide a needy family with a perfect “stocking stuffer” – sugar, rice and soap. The inflation rate last year in Uganda was 121 percent, pricing many items out of reach of families.
