Flavia lives in a small village about five kilometres northeast of Jinja. Her father passed away from AIDS in 2008 and her mother passed away in 2006. Flavia now lives with her aunt and uncle as well as her three younger siblings and five cousins. Although her uncle has a good job, Flavia and her siblings often get neglected because they are not his real children. Flavia has not been in school since 2009. Instead, she has been working at home and taking care of her siblings and cousins.
