Norah lives in a small village about five kilometres northeast of Jinja. Her father and mother are both still alive but they live in a different village and are not very involved in her life. Her parents sent her and three of her siblings to live with their grandmother when Norah was just four years old. Her grandmother struggles to pay Norah’s school fees and Norah has never gone to school regularly.
